چکیده

The effects of supplementing diets with levamisole on growth, immune response and resistance against pathogenic Aeromonas hydrophila were determined. Fish were assigned to three treatments with different level of levamisole (125, 250 and 500 mg kg ̄1 diet) and the control diet was prepared without levamisole. Cirrhinus mrigala were fed at 4% of their body mass for 60 days. Growth performance, enzyme activities and immunological parameters were analyzed among groups. The total erythrocyte count, total leucocyte count, phagocytic activity and NBT reduction were significantly (P<0.05) enhanced in levamisole treated group when compared to control. The relative percentage survival, A. hydrophila post-challenge was significantly higher in fishes fed on 250 mg kg ̄1 of levamisole supplemented diet. The same dose also resulted in significantly high specific growth rate (SGR), feed conversion ratio (FCR), apparent protein digestibility (APD) and elevated intestinal enzyme activities compared to other groups. Thus, administration of 250 mg of levamisole kg ̄1 diet is recommended for enhancement of immunity, growth and survival of C. mrigala hence acting as a potent immunostimulant agent

Effect of Dietary Incorporation of Gliricidia Maculata Leaf Meal on Growth and Feed Utilization of Cirrhinus Mrigala Fingerlings

An eight week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the potential of Gliricidia maculata leaf meal as dietary protein source in the diet of Cirrhinus mrigala fingerlings. Four experimental diets were formulated to contain 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% G. maculata leaf meal (Diets 1 – 4) to partially replace other protein ingredients in the C. mrigala diet. The diet containing 0% leaf meal served as t...

A Study on Acute Toxicity of Triazophos, Profenofos, Carbofuran and Carbaryl Pesticides on Cirrhinus mrigala

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the acute effects of commercial formulation of traiazophos, profenofos, carbofuran and carbaryl in Cirrhinus mrigala fingerlings. Pesticides were applied to fingerlings that had been grown under optimised standard conditions under a maintained static bioassay system. Probit analysis was used for the estimation of LC50 values, which were ascertained a...

Histopathological lesions in the selected tissues of Cirrhinus mrigala (Ham.) fingerlings exposed to a sublethal concentration of mercury

In the present investigation histopathological lesions in the selected tissues such as gills, kidney and eye of the fingerlings of Cirrhinus mrigala exposed to a sublethal concentration of mercury, i.e. 240 μg/l from static bioassay have been studied. The primary gill lamellae showed degeneration in the middle and distal region. In distal region, spherical structure showing complete degeneratio...

Dietary Threonine Requirement of Indian Major Carp, Cirrhinus Mrigala (hamilton), Juveniles

A growth study was conducted to determine the dietary threonine requirement of juveniles of the Indian major carp (Cirrhinus mrigala) known as “mrigal”. Diets containing casein and gelatin as sources of intact proteins were supplemented with crystalline amino acids to obtain a crude protein content of 40%. Six diets with different levels of threonine (1.0, 1.3, 1.5, 1.7, 1.9 and 2.1%) were fed ...
